The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Projects (OFCCP) announced this November that audits will increase substantially in FY‘19. They anticipate the increase to total about 3,500 audits in the coming year (up from 1,750 in FY‘18).
The OFCCP is part of the Department of Labor and ensures employers who do business with the federal government are compliant with processes, procedures and reporting related to nondiscriminatory practices. They monitor all contractual promises surrounding affirmative action and equal employment opportunity.
Any organization who meets the threshold for contracts affiliated with the federal government must comply with certain requirements related to documentation and reporting of their nondiscriminatory practice. With the increase in audits and prioritization of process, it is even more important to ensure that federal contractors have an updated Affirmative Action Plan and submit required documentation annually.
